The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) and Democratic Republic of Congo National Remote Sensing Centre (DRC NRSC/CNT) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 2023 GEO-Ministerial Summit in Cape Town to enhance collaborative efforts in implementing scientific and technological projects and programmes.
The agreement underscores a shared commitment to promote mutual socio-economic development for both parties and benefit from collaborative space projects that often have far-reaching impacts on various sectors, including agriculture, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. The joint efforts will lead to the creation of applications and solutions that address specific socio-economic challenges faced by both countries to generate economic opportunities, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for citizens. Furthermore, the collaborative partnership will facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two entities, support capacity-building skills, and sharing of best practices in space-related activities.
