Bowman Consulting Group, a Reston, VA-based infrastructure engineering consultancy, has acquired CFA Inc., a Reno-based civil engineering firm, and Blankinship & Associates, a Sacramento-based environmental consulting firm.
Founded in 1981, CFA provides services in civil engineering, planning, surveying, mapping, and remote sensing to public and private sector clients. The firm works on public works and utility infrastructure, traffic and transportation management, data centers, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, hospitality venues, and recreational complexes.
CFA has approximately 30 employees, all of whom will join Bowman as part of the acquisition.
Bowman’s purchase of CFA will strengthen its presence in Nevada, where it currently has a Las Vegas office, and will provide a base for further expansion in the state, the firm said in a press release.
“CFA is one of northern Nevada’s leading engineering, surveying and planning firms with clients, capabilities, and a geographic focus which are all extremely complementary to the core business of Bowman,” said Gary Bowman, chairman and CEO of Bowman. “I am pleased to have everyone from the CFA team join Bowman.”Bowman acquires CFA Inc. and Blankinship & Associates Bowman, a publicly traded company listed on the Nasdaq, expects the CFA acquisition to initially operate at an annualized net service billing run rate of approximately $5 million.
The other acquired firm, Blankinship & Associates, was founded in 2000 and provides environmental and engineering services in water resources, natural resource management, permitting and compliance, and specialized training.
The Sacramento area firm has 11 employees, according to its website, and is led by founder and president Mike Blankinship.
“Mike and his team have a unique set of skills and specialties that have been honed during his more than 20 years in business,” Bowman said. “Their practice will be of immediate value in every aspect of our business, and we expect there to be significant revenue synergy and wallet-share expansion opportunities created by this acquisition.”
The Blankinship deal is expected to add approximately $3 million in annual billing.
Bowman Consulting has nearly 2,000 employees nationwide providing planning, engineering, geospatial, construction management, commissioning, environmental consulting, land procurement and other technical services for infrastructure projects.
The firm earlier this year acquired Richter & Associates, a Rockville, MD-based dry utilities engineering firm.
